At ACT Lanka Pvt Ltd (trading as Airlines Crew Tours / ACT Sri Lanka), we believe that tourism should leave a positive impact — on people, places, and the planet. We are proud to share that following a rigorous training and assessment process, we received the IPD (Import Promotion Desk – Germany) Sustainable Scorecard Certification, and have also achieved the Good Travel Seal Level 1 certification from Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (STLDA) for May 2025 – May 2026.

While these certifications recognize our sustainable practices, we continue to take real steps to ensure our tours are responsible, respectful, and eco-friendly.

While we strive to operate responsibly and sustainably, ACT Lanka Pvt Ltd (trading as Airlines Crew Tours / ACT Sri Lanka) cannot guarantee specific environmental or social outcomes. Some activities are conducted by third-party suppliers, and we cannot be held liable for their practices or environmental impact. Travelers participate in these experiences at their own discretion.

Here’s how we’re working towards being a more sustainable tour company:

What We’re Doing Right Now

  1. Going Paperless
    We’ve reduced paper use by switching to 90% digital tour documents. From travel itineraries to invoices, we go digital whenever possible — saving trees and reducing waste.

  2. Reducing Single-Use Plastics
    At the start of every tour, we provide complimentary drinking water. Travelers can choose to use a refillable glass water bottle, helping us reduce single-use plastic bottles during the journey.

  3. Complimentary Reusable Fabric Bags
    Upon arrival, each client receives a reusable fabric bag as a gift. These bags are made by local small business owners and help travelers avoid using polythene and plastic shopping bags.

  4. Eco-Friendly Transport
    We use hybrid cars for 1–3 passenger tours, cutting down on fuel use and emissions. It’s a small step, but it adds up for the planet.

  5. Staying with Locals
    We love sharing the real Sri Lanka! That’s why we include homestays, eco-lodges, and nature resorts in our tours. These places are mostly run by passionate local entrepreneurs who deliver great service while caring for the environment.

  6. Supporting Local Communities
    Many of our tour activities are hosted by local artisans, farmers, and small business owners — from cooking classes to village walks. Your visit helps them grow their dreams.

  7. Beach Cleaning Support
    We actively take part in beach cleaning programs organized by local authorities, especially at Negombo Beach, to protect our coastlines and marine life.

  8. Responsible Tourism for Children
    We do not promote tourism experiences involving children in performances or activities that may exploit them. We believe children should be protected and not used for entertainment purposes.

  9. Educating Responsible Travelers
    Before you arrive in Sri Lanka, we provide simple guidelines on respecting local culture — what to wear, how to behave, and how to travel responsibly. We also give tips on how to reduce your environmental impact while you enjoy your trip.
