Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
Get up close with the world’s largest land mammals at Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Established in 1975 to rescue orphaned elephants, it now houses around to 40+ elephants, ranging from newborns to elderly matriarchs. Witness heartwarming stories of rescued elephants, including the famous three-legged elephant, Sama. Participate in feeding baby elephants during your visit and watch them playfully bathe in the May Oya river.
Ambuluwawa Tower and Breathtaking Views
Nestled near Gampola Town, Ambuluwawa Tower offers awe-inspiring panoramas from its 3567-foot peak. Climbing its narrow spiral staircase is a challenge, but the reward is worth it. The 48-meter cone-shaped tower houses a Buddhist Stupa, with multiple viewing platforms as you ascend. Embrace the thrill and enjoy spectacular vistas, just be prepared for the heights.
